![]() Pretty much took the words out of my mouth, as this really isn't about whether parts of the story fit or were filler or not so much as sticking up for what you've done and learning to improve on it as you move forward. Now I have to hang on to my old Humble Download just to keep cut dialogue. Remember that every mistake you make when telling your story is just as important as everything you do right, you learn from them and move on, you can't just make them go away. It shows a lack of confidence and tarnishes the memory of the original work. ![]() ![]() Some of what was cut makes sense but I simply do not approve of any creator constantly cutting stuff out of a finished work. Originally posted by Sanded:They need to work on adding things not removing them. Now after researching a bit I found hints that this actually might be true and wanted to ask if you can watch those cutscenes somewhere for those who are interested. Serpentine's background, which is also important to understand the main antagonist (Brevon) better, is also present as an official profile outside of the game and is never discussed or brought up anywhere in-game despite its importance. During the course of the adventure, he starts to think of Lilac, Carol and Milla as his new crew.I just read through an analysis of freedom planet here: and there is a certain par of text which saysĪnd there lies one of Freedom Planet's flaws and one of the reasons behind why its story is panned by some of the players who otherwise have the attention span to appreciate it: A full third of the dialogue and cutscenes were cut, creating plot holes.Ĭut elements include the significance of the Kingdom Stone for the planet before the revelation of its other, more long-term purpose, Lilac's and Carol's initial situation (which is important to give context to their frictions and character development later on), the fact that they're orphans (thus removing context for them relating to Milla), character interactions between Torque and Carol (which would have shown the two getting closer), scenes showing Lilac's flaws (which would have set up her character development far better and most importantly, far more visibly), and most of the finale (Final Dreadnought has a grand total of one intact cutscene and a vital conversation was cut from the ending scene).Įach individual cut is not that big a problem but they add up to cause significant problems, in particular making it easy to overlook much of the story's depth. It is implied that he was very close to his crew and was saddened by their demise. Prior to the events of the game, Torque had a crew of Spectrum Chasers under his command. When Lilac was being tortured by Brevon, Torque's resolve quickly faded, showing that he cares greatly about her well-being.įans have taken this a step further by interpreting their relationship as a romantic one, though this could be pure fan speculation. He did not like the idea of getting civilians involved in a galactic conflict, but once he saw her, Carol and Milla in action, he quickly changed his mind. Together, Torque and his new crew sets out to stop Lord Brevon from stealing the Kingdom Stone and plunging the Three Kingdoms of Avalice (Shang Tu, Shang Mu & Shuigang) into a Civil War.Īt first Torque was reluctant to open up to Lilac, it was not until he was revealed as an alien that he explained the whole situation. But since he was the only remaining Chaser, he needed help to stop Brevon and his army, help in the forms of a Purple Dragon Girl, a Tomboy Wildcat and a Bashful Hound Dog. Upon arriving on Avalice, he disguised himself as a Shellduck to hide his alien appearence. Torque swore to his dying Captain that he will stop Brevon from stealing the Kingdom Stone for his galactic conquest. During the battle, his Captain and entire crew were all killed and/or corrupted by Brevon. Prior to the event prior to the events of Freedom Planet, Torque and a squadron of Chasers were locked in a space battle with Brevon's Dreadnought, which was en route to Planet Avalice to steal the Planet's main source of energy: the Kingdom Stone.
